Speaker- Portland Community Squash

Barrett Takesian, 28, Southwest Harbor, ME, graduated from Bowdoin College in 2012, where he was Captain of the Men's Squash Team. From his desk at an insurance company in Portland, ME, Barrett created Portland Community Squash to bring together Portland's adult squash community and a top-rate college access program for Portland students. On January 10, 2017, after four years of community building, working two jobs, and traveling the country to learn the best of the sport, Barrett opened the doors to the country's first public squash and education center at 66 Noyes Street, Portland, ME. The program is now staffed by teachers, coaches, and wellness staff, working with hundreds of Portland students and adults. In 2018, US Squash awarded Barrett the US Olympic Committee Coach of the Year award.
